Hoboken Garden Club's Anniversary Celebration! on Zoom!
Celebrating its 21st Year in 2021, the Hoboken Garden Club’s mission is to encourage interest in home gardening, provide educational activities, promote civic beatification, and conserve natural resources in an urban environment and to encourage participation in local and statewide garden related activities.
Tonight’s speaker is Garden historian and writer, Lesley Parness. She has worked in public gardens in America and abroad for the past four decades. As Superintendent of Horticultural Education at the Morris County Park Commission, she oversaw education, programming and interpretation. She served as a Board Member of the NJ Commission on Environmental Education and the Alliance for NJ Environmental Educators. She is a founding member and past President of Garden State Gardens, a non-profit consortium of NJ Public Gardens.
Tonight’s topic is Drama Queens: Dark Beauties for Your Garden.
Defined as "the absence of color," black in its many hues can highlight, offset and dramatize every real color in your garden. Understand how to use black hued plants for maximum impact. Over 75 dark beauties, including annuals, perennials, vines, trees and shrubs are featured in this compendium of powerful plants. We'll cover their habit and culture, and a useful plant list is provided.
Program will run 60 minutes.
