Censorship in America with Evan Weiner

Censorship in America with Evan Weiner

Author Evan Weiner joins the library for a presentation on "Censorship in America: The motion picture industry, television, books in the 20th century. Why it happened and how it shaped film and TV." Censorship in America has been going on for centuries. In the 20th Century, books were “banned”, movies deemed too obscene were edited. Television would not show a married couple in bed and news programs came under attack. There may be a freedom of speech provision in the United States Constitution but groups have tried to shut that down for decades.

The program on Zoom.. This event is sponsored by The Friends of the Englewood Library.
