Celebrating Black History Month with Art with Liz, Highlighted Artist - Jennifer Packer
In this class students will be introduced to the figurative paintings of Jennifer Packer. Packer is one of my all time favorite young, and up and coming Black figurative painters in the art scene today. Her paintings of her friends and acquaintances have a quick, spontaneous immediacy which belies her extraordinary skin as a portrait painter. With just a few strokes and lines she can capture the feelings and fleeting expressions on her subjects engaging faces. After our discussion and slide show about her work, we will review techniques of drawing, successful portraits. Students will then be instructed to do a portrait of a special loved one as a celebration of this Valentine’s Day. This class will be an EXTRA SPECIAL TREAT because there will be a second session of this class in the afternoon at the library from 1-3pm in the same location as the morning class. I will teach the same lesson and those of you who can not make the morning class, those of you who are more afternoon people, or those of you who work slowly and carefully you can start in the morning class - leave your work in place and return to complete it in the afternoon class! So I do hope many students will take advantage of this new addition to Art with Liz!
This program will be held in person and live on Zoom and YouTube!
