CONCERT: Holiday Troubadour: Richard Stillman

 

A holiday program that includes Christmas carols, Chanukah songs, & Kwanza music on banjo, mandolin, bagpipes, guitar, & African talking drum. 

About the performer:

Richard Stillman is an actor, musician, singer, storyteller and tap dancer.  He plays the banjo, mandolin, ukulele, guitar, bagpipes & 12 other instruments. His show, “The Spirit of Vaudeville” won the Best ConcertAward at the United Solo Theater Festival in NYC. Richard was featured on the premier episode of the PBS Television Series "Shining Time
Station". He received critical acclaim for his performance in "Lady Be Good" at the Kennedy Center and the Goodspeed Opera House. On Broadway Mr. Stillman played the Clerk of Oxford in "Canterbury Tales", and understudied "Mummenschanz". Other productions include "Take it From the Top" with Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and "Hamlet" with
Rip Torn and Geraldine Page. Richard also performs his own shows that combine original and traditional folk music, storytelling and percussive dance. These include: "The Irish
Balladeer", "Pecos Bill Rides the Oregon Trail", "A World Mosaic of Music and Dance" and ten others. In addition, Mr. Stillman plays with his own Dixieland Band, Bluegrass Band and Irish Band. He teaches everything he does.


Richard has a B.A. in Theatre from Dartmouth College and studied further
at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and with acting teacher,
Michael Howard. As a musician he is mostly self taught.
