Wine Confidence: Understanding The Basics NEW

Wine Confidence: Understanding The Basics NEW

This is a paid Adult School class. Click here to register.

This introductory course offers a comprehensive overview of essential wine concepts, designed to establish or strengthen your foundational knowledge and support your ongoing appreciation of wine.

Over the 4-week course, we will review the primary grape varieties and styles of dry white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines, as well as explore viticulture fundamentals and the winemaking process. We will explore the major wine-producing countries and differences among grape varieties and wine styles. We will review how to taste and critically evaluate wine from visual assessment through aftertaste. For historical context, the course provides an overview of wine’s origins, its evolution, and the business aspects of winemaking. A solid foundation also includes guidance on appropriate tools for opening wine bottles, optimal storage, and serving temperatures to enhance your overall wine experience.

At the end of the class, you will have gained a deeper understanding of the many aspects of dry and sparkling wines so you are thoroughly conversant about wine….. wine confidence!

THIS EVENT IS 21+. Students will be required to purchase one instructor-selected bottle of wine (approx. $20) for tastings per class (any wine that hasn't been tasted can be taken home).
