Charu Suri: A RAGA JAZZ EVENING
Multi award-winning pianist and composer, Charu Suri, became the first Indian jazz artist to play at Carnegie Hall where she has had sold-out shows five times. She has been heralded as the "Queen of Raga Jazz"--blending indian ragas (modal scales) and jazz. In this performance at the Montclair Public Library, she takes you on a journey through India, performing from her original works, and showing audiences the exquisite beauty of using Indian modal scales (ragas) in jazz and world music.
Joining her are J. Brunka on double bass, and Christian Finger on drums.
Charu's music has been performed by Yo Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and the New Jersey Symphony, among others. She is a Governor at the Recording Academy (Grammys) New York Chapter and debuts her latest album, SHAYAN, worldwide on August 22nd.
Seating will be first come, first served. Registration is recommended for updates.
