Armchair Art Tour: Monet at Giverny
Join art historian Dr. Michael Norris for a richly illustrated talk exploring the luminous later works of Claude Monet. Inspired by a line from Sophocles, “We must wait until the evening to see how splendid the day has been,” this virtual tour focuses on Monet’s final decades in Giverny, where he transformed his garden into a vivid, abstract world of light, color, and reflection. Monet’s last great effort was creating dozens more paintings of water lilies, based on the ones thriving within his own garden in Giverny, a village fifty miles from Paris. Discover masterpieces from renowned museums, including the Met, MoMA, and the Philadelphia and Princeton Museums of Art, all from the comfort of your seat at the library.
