Rock, Paper, Scissors, Code! (ages 10 - 14)
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Code! is a playful, hands-on introduction to coding in Python, designed for kids who are curious, creative, or just looking for a new hobby to dive into. Inspired by a "Mr. Miyagi" approach, students won’t just be staring at a screen typing commands — they’ll be building something fun from the ground up: their own Rock, Paper, Scissors app.
Registration required. Please note that we will be doing the same lesson in all three sessions (Sept. 19; Sept. 26; and Oct. 3) so please register for only ONE workshop.
Meet your instructor:
William Rosenheck is a rising senior at Montclair High School. Raised in Montclair, New Jersey, William has been a lifelong member of the community, attending Charles H. Bullock Elementary and Renaissance Middle School before continuing at Montclair High.
From a young age, William was encouraged to explore his passions, and at just 10 years old, he discovered a deep love for coding. What started as a curiosity quickly evolved into a defining part of his identity. Over the years, he has completed three formal coding courses at school and has spent countless hours developing his skills through personal projects, problem-solving, and experimentation outside of class. Coding became more than just a subject—it became a creative outlet and a lens through which he views challenges and innovation.
Outside the world of tech, William has played sports his whole life. He played completive soccer until his sophomore year and recently found passion in ultimate frisbee. These sport’s fast pace, teamwork, and strategic demands have mirrored the same energy and focus he brings to coding.
William combines the mindset of a disciplined athlete with the curiosity of a dedicated coder. He hopes to use these skills to make a meaningful impact, whether through software development, community projects, or future innovations that blend technology with real-world solutions.
