Silent Daredevils: How Women invented the Action Movie

Silent Daredevils: How Women invented the Action Movie

Join Cordelia Siporin on an exploration of the female daredevils and stuntwomen who founded the action movie genre and the film stunting profession in the 1910s, their rise to fame that helped win women the right to vote in 1920, and their fall into obscurity and erasure from history later that year when Wall Street bought the (then-female-dominated) film industry and ousted the vast majority of women from positions of filmmaking power, leaving a male-dominated film industry ever since.
