CANCELED - Letter by Letter Pen Pal Program (In-Person)
Hyaemhin and Edward are rising seniors at the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, NJ. Together they run a 501(c)(3) student nonprofit organization called Letter by Letter, where they aim to support kids who struggle with reading and writing in the classroom through the practice of writing letters.
The Letter by Letter Pen Pal Program is a 6 - week long letter exchage for children in 2nd - 6th grade. Bergen County Acadamies High School volunteers are paired with students who register for the program, during which they practice letter-writing etiquette and reading comprehension, as well as engage in historical and social change activities.
The first workshop (Thursday, October 2) is in-person, but the rest of the Pen Pal Program is letter exchange between the student and the high school volunteer. The Demarest Library will be the pick up/drop off spot.
