American TV Censorship with Evan Weiner

American TV Censorship with Evan Weiner

There is a very long history of both Government and Network Television censorship of shows and news, The Federal Communications Commissioner has guidelines for basic censorship mostly dealing with obscenity. But networks have fired performers for political beliefs and established industry standards that border on the absurd including in the early days of TV, standards on pregnancy, women’s dress and even belly buttons. The American government and networks have clashed over news coverage. Over-the-air TV was the most self and government censored media platform in American history.

Recent events have been added to the talk.
