“Louis Bamberger: Department Store Innovator and Philanthropist”

Linda Forgosh - author and executive director of the Jewish Historical Society of NJ, will discuss her book, "Louis Bamberger: Department Store Innovator and Philanthropist"  It took her about 8 years to write this biography.  Beyond founding Newark’s leading department store in 1892, Mr. Bamberger became Newark's major philanthropist. Because of this self-made millionaire,  Newark Beth Israel Hospital was founded, as was the Newark Museum, the YMHA on High Street, and a children's home.
