Cookbook Club: It's a Small World, adults

Cookbook Club: It's a Small World, adults

Registration requested.

Our cookbook club can be the best way to get out of your American-comfort-food zone. When everyone is tasked with making an exotic dish or experimenting with international fare they’ve never even attempted to cook, fun and tasty things happen. New favorite foods will be discovered, and you’ll become impressed with your emerging culinary abilities and your new international palate.

Pick up a cookbook from the library. You are welcome to choose cuisine from any country but we encourage you to try something new.  For inspiration, select a cookbook that highlights a cuisine from a part of the world you have never visited.

How it Works:

Check out a cookbook in advance (or simply use your own recipe).

  • Make one regular sized recipe of your choice from the book you selected so that each member gets a taste. (Don’t worry if more than one member makes the same recipe; we’ll enjoy the different interpretations.)

  • Please avoid alcoholic beverage recipe choices as the Library is not allowed to serve alcohol.  (Recipes that include wine that is cooked down are fine.)

  • Please observe cleanliness and sanitation in preparing the food to share; make sure the food is fully cooked and avoid using recipes prepared with raw eggs.  For additional safety tips visit US Dept. of Health and Human Services Food Safety website.

  • Bring your dish ready to eat to the Library by 7:00 p.m. on the meeting date.

  • Please bring a photocopy of the recipe you prepared or write down the page number and list the ingredients to assist members with allergies or food sensitivities.

  • Paper goods and beverages will be supplied by the Library.

  • We will estimate attendance based on the number of cookbooks checked out but will plan that some participants may bring a guest.  Please note these meetings are for adults ages 18 and up.

  • Our meetings will begin with a group tasting which will be followed by a discussion of the books, recipes, and author styles.
