Starting January 2021, the Library is presenting a virtual Cancer Education Series in collaboration with the Center for Asian Health (CAH )at the St Barnabas  Medical Center and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ (CINJ).

The presenters are community cancer control specialists from the CINJ.

Here are the 3 programs in the series and the dates:

1. Cancer and Genetics, January 22, @ 11am

Explains hereditary and lifestyle risk factors for cancer. Learn how and why cancer forms in cells, and methods to identify your personal cancer risk.  Discover best practices for reducing or managing personal cancer risk, and understand why you might have heightened risk. Information will also be provided on genetic risk assessment and genetic testing resources.

2. Eating Healthy for Cancer Prevention, February 24 @11am

Learn how to portion your plate with cancer-fighting foods and the different food groups that can promote your health. Learn which foods you should avoid for optimal health.

3. Nutrition for Colorectal Health and Cancer Prevention, March 24 @11am

Learn about foods that can help to maintain good colorectal health and act to prevent cancer. Also learn about current cancer screening guidelines for colorectal health.

You can register for one or more sessions and the Zoom link will be emailed the day before each event.
