VIRTUAL Maintaining Healthy Relationships: Advice for Couples

VIRTUAL Maintaining Healthy Relationships: Advice for Couples

Being part of a couple can provide great comfort, fulfillment and meaning in your life. But relationships need to be nurtured, or they can go very wrong.

In this virtual program, licensed psychologist, Dr. Leslie Becker-Phelps will clarify the necessary elements for a strong, healthy relationship. Importantly, this includes nurturing compassionate self-awareness, which is gaining self-awareness from a compassionate perspective. She will provide guidance in how to develop 5 essential domains of self-awareness (STEAM): Sensations, Thoughts, Emotions, Actions, and Mentalizing. She will also offer you other tools to strengthen your connection with your partner,  improve your ability to ask for change and work through conflicts.

Dr. Becker-Phelps is the author of the books Insecure in Love (New Harbinger Publications, 2014) and Bouncing Back from Rejection (New Harbinger, 2019).  She was the consultant psychologist for Love: The Psychology of Attraction (DK Publishing, 2016), which was nominated as a finalist for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s 2017 Books for Better Living.  She is a regular writer for WebMD’s Relationships blog, and also writes a blog called Making Change for the Psychology Today website and is a staff editor for the New Jersey Psychological Association E-Newsletter. She has presented nationally on a variety of mental health topics.
