Cruzando Caminos Grupo Teatral, dirigido por Linda Gould Levine, presenta una nueva adaptación de la obra clásica de Federico García Lorca, La casa de Bernarda Alba.  Situada en el sur de España en los 1930s, es la historia de 5 hijas que viven con su madre tiránica. Quieren libertad sexual y la posibilidad de realizar sus deseos.  El conflicto entre las hermanas y su madre, Bernarda Alba, crea una obra llena de dramatismo, tragedia, y momentos de humor realizados por el elenco talentoso de Cruzando Caminos.  

 

WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST of CRUZANDO CAMBINOS THEATER GROUP

Jenny Hernández (Bernarda Alba) was born in Colombia, a country that instilled in her a great love of art, culture, and its customs which she also found in the United States when she arrived here many years ago. From childhood she dreamed of being on the stage. Jenny also played the role of Estela in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of Ofelia in Ana en el trópico.

Feli Blasco (Poncia) was born in Spain. She has a Master’s degree from Montclair State University and teaches Spanish at Drew University and Caldwell University. She has performed in different plays in MSU and Drew. She played the role of Carmen in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of Juan Julián in Ana en el trópico.

Magaly Y. Novoa (Adela) is originally from Lima, Peru. Her love for languages and literature led her to earn an A.A. in English, a B.A. in Spanish with a concentration in Translation, and an M.A. in Spanish with a concentration in Translation and Interpreting from Montclair State University. She works in the the Translation and Interpreting field. She played the role of Rosalí in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of Conchita in Ana en el trópico.

Elizabeth Pérez Diner (Martirio) was born and raised in Venezuela but has resided in the US since 2001. She holds a B.A. in Mass Communication from Universidad Central de Venezuela. She studied translation and interpreting at MSU and NYU. She currently works as a translator and interpreter and is also a mixed-media visual artist.

Liliana Olivares (Magdalena) was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. She is an interior designer and also a medical assistant and coordinator of surgery in a doctor’s office. She is a lover of all forms of artistic expression— opera, music, and dance. She played the role of Ana in in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of Marela in Ana en el trópico.

Gloria Emperatriz Diez (Angustias) was born in Medellín, Colombia and came to the U.S. in 1995. She studied to Eastwick College to become a Registered Medical Assistant. She is also a N.J. licensed massage therapist oriented toward medical massage, a holistic therapist, and a Reiki Master.

Beatriz Delgado-Ochoa (María Josefa, la abuela) is Colombian-American. She has dedicated her youth and adult life to learning English. Since 2010, she has focused her graduate education on reviving her source language, Spanish. She played the role of the radio caller in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of the presenter in Ana en el trópico.

Luis G. Zea (Lorca) was born in Medellín, Colombia. He moved to this country many years ago to complete his Business Administration education, never imagining that he would wind up with a B.A. in his native language from Montclair State University. He played the role of Eliades in Cruzando Camino’s production of Ana en el trópico.

Yaima Aimee Centeno (Amelia) was born in Guantánamo, Cuba. She has a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from University at Albany, SUNY and works as a translator. She enjoys acting and would like to participate in many other theater projects.

Maria Kapadia (Criada) was born in Asturias, Spain and lives in Morristown, NJ. She has an MBA from the College of Saint Elizabeth. She was inspired to take the plunge into acting by her children Sabrina and Julian. She played the role of the undocumented mother in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas and of the Palomo in Ana en el trópico.

Aurora Hermo (Prudencia, Madre de Bodas de sangre, Criada de Bodas de sangre), a native of Spain, has taught Heritage Spanish and AP Spanish Literature at Summit High School. She has an MA from NYU and a. M.Ed. from Columbia University. She played the role of Esperanza in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas.

Germán Cardona (Pepe el Romano, Juan de Yerma, Leonardo de Bodas de sangre, Agente de Aguatourexpress) is a high school and middle school Spanish teacher in Englewood. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature from Montclair State University and received his teacher certification in Spanish from Seton Hall University. He played the role of Santiago in Cruzando Camino’s production of Las Ana en el trópico.

Inma Serrano (Novia de Bodas de sangre) was born in Spain, but raised in Newark Ironbound in an immigrant community. She served as the Chairperson of the Modern Language Department and a Spanish teacher at Delbarton School. She has a true love for literature and and has dabbled in theater performance since childhood. She received a Master’s degree from Montclair State University in Spanish Literature.

Sarah Serna-Diez (Muchacha de Yerma) studied at Rutgers University, Newark, pursuing a degree in fine arts with a specialization in photography. She has always had a love for the arts and played a small role in her middle school's production of Annie.

Noelia Camargo (Yerma de Yerma) was born in Buenos Aires and graduated from Montclair State University with a concentration in Spanish translation. This is her first time acting in a play and she is excited to be part of it.

Linda Gould Levine (Director, Producer, Adapter of Lorca play) was born in New York and fell in love with Spain during her junior year abroad. She is Professor Emerita of Spanish at Montclair State University and received her Ph.D. from Harvard University. She is the founder and director of Cruzando Caminos theater group. Her other productions include Las mujeres de verdad tienen curvas by Josefina López and Ana en el trópico by Nilo Cruz.

Joseph L. González (Assistant Director) created the set design for Luna Stage’s production of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris in Montclair, NJ. He received his Master’s degree in Spanish and a Certificate of Interpreting and Translation in Spanish from Montclair State University. He currently teaches courses in film.

Reyther Ortega (Feminista and Assistant Director) holds a B.A. in Cinema Studies from Universidad Central de Venezuela, an M.F.A in Film Directing from New York University, Tisch School if the Arts; and an M.A. in Spanish from Montclair State University. She has directed two award-winning short films and worked as assistant director and script supervisor in the film industry both in New York and her native Venezuela.

Nicole D'Angelo (Pianist) is a pianist, clarinetist, and multi-instrumentalist from Warren, NJ. She graduated from Montclair State University in January 2017 with degrees in both music education and performance. Besides performing in orchestras and theater pits Nicole enjoys teaching private lessons to students of all ages.

Germán Martínez (Sound Design) graduated from Montclair State University with a major in Production & Design in Theatre and a double concentration is Sound and Stage Management. Other credits of design and work include: Carnegie Hall Studios, Dixon Place, and Luna Stage.
