VIRTUAL New GMO Food Labels in 2022: What They Mean for You

VIRTUAL New GMO Food Labels in 2022: What They Mean for You

In 2016, Congress passed the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Law, and new labeling will be required for many foods starting in 2022.

This virtual presentation will describe which foods will be labeled as bioengineered, and how you can identify them. It will also discuss how this new approach came about and what it will mean for you and your family.

Presenter Cara Cuite is an Assistant Extension Specialist in the Department of Human Ecology at Rutgers University. Dr. Cuite is a health psychologist who studies community food security, risk communication and public perceptions of food-related issues, including genetically engineered foods. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the United States Department of Agriculture, New Jersey Sea Grant, and Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Cuite serves on the Executive Committee of Rutgers Against Hunger.

The program is free and open to all and registration is required.

Participants will receive the zoom link the day before the event.
