Stephen Sondheim: Worlds to Change, Worlds to Win

Stephen Sondheim: Worlds to Change, Worlds to Win

American composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, is one of the most important figures in 20th-century musical theater, praised for having reinvented the American musical.

From providing lyrics for West Side Story to creating both words and music for such hits as Company, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods, Sondheim has earned his place among Broadway's greatest.

Entertainment historian John Kenrick pulls back the curtain on Sondheim's life and career. Exciting performance videos and fascinating backstage stories make this a memorable salute to a theater pro still going strong at 91!

Entertainment historian John Kenrick has worked in the theatre at every level from amateur to Broadway, eventually serving as personal assistant to six Tony Award winning producers, including the team behind the original production of Rent. He has taught musical theatre history courses at New York University’s Steinhardt School, The New School University, and Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. He is the creator of the educational website Musicals101.com, and his books include “ Musical Theatre: A History. ”

The program is free and open to all; no registration is needed.
