Elias Sime: Art at Home with Liz- Black History Month Artist Celebration on Zoom

February 2022 for the Art at Home classes we will be delving into the visually rich and exciting world of the new, up and coming Black artists of the 21st Century. February is of course Black History Month and what better way to celebrate and appreciate Black culture than by lookingat the work of its visual artists? Each Wednesday will be devoted to a different artist and a project inspired by their work.

Our final class in February will be such a thrilling experience looking at the beautiful and unique art of Elias Sime. Sime is an Ethiopian artist who takes everyday objects like computer chips, keyboard pieces, and wires and puts them together into gorgeous assemblages. His thrilling creations will inspire students to make their own found art assemblages - anything will be appropriate - buttons, junk mail, stickers, bottle caps, etc.
