From Buzz to Chirps and Flashes: Creating an Eco-Friendly Garden

In collaboration with the Hasbrouck Heights Garden Club. Meet & Greet is at 5:30 PM and the program starts at 6:00 PM.

You can create a garden that buzzes with life and attracts butterflies, bees, fireflies, and other insects! This presentation discusses how our ecosystems are out of balance and what gardeners can do to improve the environment by creating habitat for many pollinators. Garden design, maintenance, and plant selection are addressed as well as specific host plants.

A passionate gardener for 30 years, Lourdes Osorio enjoys gardening not only for beauty but to provide an eco-friendly sanctuary for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. She is the creator of Native Plant Channel on YouTube and Facebook, an educational channel that produces videos to help gardeners grow native plants, discussing their characteristics and growing requirements and offering virtual tours of public and private native plant gardens. Lourdes is an educator, Rutgers certified Master Gardener, and a member of the Board of Directors for Laurelwood Arboretum in Wayne, NJ.
