Artist Lynn Hershman Leeson for Liz's Art at Home Celebration of Women's History Month

Artist Lynn Hershman Leeson for Liz's Art at Home Celebration of Women's History Month

For the month of March, 2022, our Art at Home classes will focus on the contributions of women in the visual arts. During each class we will spend time talking about the life and accomplishments of one singular female artist, look at and discuss her work, and then do an art project inspired by her style, aesthetic, or concept.

PLEASE REGISTER BELOW TO RECEIVE THE ZOOM LINK 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE CLASS BEGINS. THE SAME ZOOM LINK IS VALID FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH ONLY.

Our third artist this month will be Lynn Hershman Leeson. Leeson was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1941. At once a pointed critic and a sly practical jokester, Leeson has worked across a wide range of mediums, from drawing, painting and sculpture to interactive films, net-based media works, and artificial intelligence. Overlooked for the better part of her decades-long career, Hershman Leeson is a pioneering multidisciplinary artist, critiquing the deep seated gender biases that have excluded her and other women artists. We create our own multi-media images on paper exploring our own feelings about society’s visual conditioning.
