Dog Wellness & Grooming – Demarest Community Spotlight

Dog Wellness & Grooming – Demarest Community Spotlight

Veterinarian Dr. Ursula Ramalho and Ingrid Makhail, co-owner of Jan's Dog House, are teaming up to provide advice on caring for your dog from nose to tail and toenails, too.

Dr. Ramalho will discuss training, socializing, and canine health, including vaccinations and nutrition. Ingrid will explain the differences in your dogs' coats from season to season and provide tips for readying your dog for a professional gromming session and for grooming at home.

Dogs are welcome if they are friendly and able to sit comfortably with other dogs (and humans!) through the presentation.

Ingrid earned her BS in Business from NJIT in 2012 and soon after opened Jan’s Dog House with her mother Jan while working full-time on Wall St. In late 2013, she decided to dedicate herself to the family business and has worked as a groomer alongside her mother Jan (who graduated from NY School of Dog Grooming in 2007) ever since. The duo’s connection and engagement with their clients throughout the years with caring, honest, and trustworthy service helped build a big network of clients mostly referred by word-of-mouth.

Dr. Ursula Ramalho has had a love for animals for as long as she can remember. She earned a BS in Animal Science at UVM and then went on to complete a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Her interests in this field include internal medicine and shelter medicine. On her time off she enjoys hiking with her rescued dogs, interior design, crocheting, reading, and spending time at the beach.
