Dementia Specialist Presents I AM STILL ME
Dementia specialist, Mary Beth Rose, will be talking about dementia and living with dementia.
“Knowledge is light when uncertainty is a dark room. And when a switch is flipped a light is shone, a flame flickers to life, and we find a way to work with the unknown chapter known as Dementia. ‘I’m Still Me’ encompasses the reality that Dementia is never the staple of who we are. Come join us and learn how to fit within the reality of dementia and thrive!”
Mary Beth began her career in medical surgical and oncology nursing. Prior to joining CareOne, Mary Beth worked at Saint Michael’s Medical Center for 16 years in various leadership and senior leadership positions (e.g. Patient Flow Administrator: responsible for the management of Emergency Department). She opened a 17-bed in-patient transition unit significantly decreasing the length of stay in the emergency room. Some of her other accomplishments were developing a six-month emergency department residency program and implementing the AIDET program which in turn created collaboration, patient advocacy, and best-in-class patient experience.
Mary Beth joined CareOne in 2017 as the Assistant Director of Nursing at their flag ship assisted living: CareOne at Cupola. There, she was responsible for the daily clinical operations of 165 general assisted living residents and 44 memory care residents living in the Harmony Village neighborhoods. She received the CareOne Nightingale Award at the Cupola in 2020.
Working with CareOne she discovered her love for geriatrics, particularly those living with dementia. The journey led her to become an established member of the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. As a Dementia Specialist, Mary Beth assists in creating individualized care programs. Each program emphasizes the person’s abilities and strengths with a focus on creating outcomes of success.
Mary Beth lives in Morris County, NJ. In her leisure time, Mary Beth enjoys running and spending time with her family.
