The Maywood Library Book Club is back!  We’ll meet in-person on the third Friday of the month at 11:30 am.  This month, we'll be dicussing The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett.

Weaving together multiple strands and generations of the Vignes family, from the Deep South to California, from the 1950s to the 1990s, The Vanishing Half follows the Vignes twins as they grow up in a small, southern black community. These identical twins run away at sixteen and their lives start to diverge from one another. Everything from their daily lives to their families, their communities, and even their racial identities differ into adulthood. One sister raises her daughter in the same southern town she had once tried to escape. The other secretly passes for white, and her husband knows nothing of her past. The fates of the twins still remain intertwined even though the years, miles, and lies have separated them.  What will happen to the next generation as their daughters' lives also intersect?
