Latin American History Month starts in September and extends into October. We will continue
our discovery and exploration of the work of influential Latin artists of the 20th century.
For our final October, we will look at and discuss José Clemente Orozco (who was a Mexican caricaturist and painter. He specialized in political murals that established the Mexican Mural Renaissance together with murals by Diego Rivera, David Alfaro
Siqueiros, and others. Orozco was the most complex of the Mexican muralists, fond of the theme of human suffering, but less realistic and more fascinated by machines than Rivera. Mostly influenced by Symbolism, he was also a genre painter and lithographer. WE will create
our own caricatures and have fun with distorting the human face.
Tips and techniques for drawing will be reviewed.
