"Black Physicians in the Jim Crow South"
On Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. in the Mackay Room, author and professor Thomas J. Ward Jr. will discuss his book "Black Physicians in the Jim Crow South." The book chronicles the conditions of the black elite during legal segregation from the 1880s to the 1960s. Mr. Ward combines the professionalization of the medical community, the effects of segregation, and the interplay of race and class in this work.A book signing will take place after the book. The books will be available for purchase.
The price for Black Physicians is $20. I will also be bringing copies of my more recent book, Out in the Rural which is $30. Cash, check, credit card or venmo will be accepted.
