Art Lecture and Workshop with Liz Ndoye - Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Featured Artist, Andria Lo

Art Lecture and Workshop with Liz Ndoye - Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Featured Artist, Andria Lo

During our first class we will start by looking at the work of photographer Andria Lo and writer Valerie Luu. They have collaborated to produce a bookcalled Chinatown Pretty. After traveling to Chinatowns across the U.S. and Canada, the artist
pair fell in love with the style and aesthetic of elderly Chinese. Five years of snapping their
pictures and writing their life stories, have enabled the artists to create a book that honors the
innate beauty and chic of the Asians they have chronicled. The book they have produced is
their way of honoring their elders and making the larger dominant population of America value
the Asian members of our community and work to stop the ever constant and growing anti-
Asian hate we live with every day. Students will be invited to bring in photos of their elders and
create portrait drawings that honor their loved ones and ancestors.

This program will be held in person and live on Zoom and YouTube!
